Elias Ahonen is a Finnish-Canadian blockchain researcher, author, and legal expert described as “one of the first Bitcoin historians” due to his 2016 book, Physical Bitcoins and Crypto-Currencies. His 2021 book, Blockland, was called “cryptocurrency’s first rock’n’roll biography” and serves as a textbook for the industry. He is a regular contributor to Cointelegraph Magazine and has been acknowledged for his expertise by both national and international media such as The Wall Street Journal.
Ahonen started professional life as an IT analyst with Blackberry in Canada, and later worked in China as a geopolitical researcher focused on North Korea. He launched a small blockchain consultancy in 2017, focused on token ranking and global ICO launches. He holds a Bachelor in Political Science from Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada, studied Economics & Philosophy at the master’s level at Universität Bayreuth in Germany, and is writing a thesis on legal questions surrounding NFT’s for his Master of Law at the University of Turku in Finland. He is an avid collector of cryptocurrency memorabilia, and acts as a broker for high-value items and NFT´s.
